A Kenya Defence Force (KDF) officer has been apprehended in Homa Bay County for his alleged involvement in the heinous murder of a 30-year-old man in Sino village, Rachuonyo South Sub County. The victim, identified as Collins Okiro, met a tragic end at the hands of the officer and two other accomplices, marking a chilling turn of events in the region.
The arrest of the KDF officer follows the emergence of a disturbing video circulating on various social media platforms, capturing the harrowing moments leading up to Okiro’s untimely demise. In the footage, Okiro can be seen being subjected to a brutal assault, with his eyes blindfolded using a striking red piece of cloth tightly secured around his head.
Rachuonyo South Sub-County Police Commander, Lilies Wachira, shed light on the grim events that transpired on that fateful day. According to Wachira, the KDF officer, accompanied by his brother and another individual, visited Okiro’s residence in Sino village on April 7. Under false pretenses, they managed to coax Okiro into leaving with them, leaving his unsuspecting wife in the dark about their intended destination.
The trio proceeded to lead Okiro to a secluded thicket in the area, where they callously carried out a fatal assault on the defenseless victim. Okiro’s wife later identified the KDF officer and his brother as the perpetrators, prompting a swift response from law enforcement. Officers from Oyugis police station launched a manhunt, eventually culminating in the arrest of the KDF officer.
Currently, the detained officer is being held at Oyugis police station as efforts intensify to track down the two remaining suspects linked to Okiro’s murder. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, raising concerns about the prevalence of such acts of violence and the need for justice to be served.
The tranquil village of Sino in Rachuonyo South Sub County has been thrust into the spotlight following this tragic event, underscoring the importance of upholding law and order in every corner of the country. As investigations continue and the wheels of justice turn, the memory of Collins Okiro serves as a stark reminder of the fragility of life and the imperative of safeguarding the well-being of all individuals within society..
