Tragic Incident Unfolds in Oklahoma City Home
In a harrowing incident that shocked the community, a 10-year-old boy in Oklahoma City woke up on Monday morning to a scene of unimaginable horror. The boy discovered his entire family massacred in their Mirage Street home, with four family members dead from gunshot wounds inflicted by the child’s father, who then took his own life, according to Oklahoma City police.
The perpetrator, identified as Jonathon Candy, had a heated argument with his wife, Lindsay Candy, which tragically escalated into a violent confrontation. Jonathon fatally shot his wife before turning the gun on three of their sons, aged between 12 and 18, and then ultimately taking his own life, as revealed by Oklahoma City Police Sgt. Gary Knight during a media briefing.
The distressing situation came to light when the 10-year-old boy managed to call the police around 9:30 a.m. on Monday, informing them of the chilling discoveries he had made in his home.
Sgt. Knight described the scene as nothing short of a massacre, stating, “Those children were hunted down and killed.” While the investigators are still trying to piece together the motive behind the horrific incident, the fact that the boy’s life was spared remains a perplexing mystery.
The victims of this tragic event have been identified as Dylan Candy, 18; Ethan Candy, 14; Lucas Candy, 12; Lindsay Candy, 39; and Jonathon Candy, 42, as confirmed by the police. Notably, the family had no prior interactions with law enforcement or any history of domestic abuse allegations, as emphasized by Sgt. Knight.
The community is reeling from the shock of this senseless act of violence, with investigators still working tirelessly to uncover the underlying reasons that led to such a tragic outcome in a seemingly peaceful neighbourhood.
