A man has been apprehended in Kingsport, Tennessee, after allegedly shooting and killing a woman in Mocksville, North Carolina. The incident took place on Pineville Road, with the Davie County Sheriff’s Office responding to the scene just before 3 p.m. on a Tuesday afternoon.
According to reports, an 18-year-old girl called 911 to report the shooting, bravely staying on the line with telecommunications operators until deputies arrived. She was found hiding with a 1-month-old baby when law enforcement reached the location.
Tragically, Jade Marie Sales, a 34-year-old resident of Mocksville, was discovered deceased in the home from multiple gunshot wounds. The suspect, identified as Dennis Jerome Sales, a 38-year-old from Mocksville, fled the scene before authorities arrived. However, he was apprehended the following morning in Kingsport, Tennessee.
Fortunately, additional children who resided in the home were at school during the time of the incident and were placed under the care of the Department of Social Services for their safety and well-being.
Dennis Jerome Sales has been charged with murder in connection with the shooting. It is currently unclear when he will be extradited back to Davie County to face trial for the alleged crime.
