Tragic Motorcycle Convoy Ends in Three Deaths on Ketereh-Kota Bharu Highway
KOTA BHARU: A joyous evening turned into a nightmare for a group of friends as a motorcycle convoy ended in tragedy on the Ketereh-Kota Bharu highway in the early hours of the morning. The incident, which occurred at KM 9.9 of the highway, resulted in a seven-vehicle pile-up, claiming the lives of three individuals, including 21-year-old Ahmad Izuddin Ahmad Jhosman.
Ahmad Izuddin, a young biker with a passion for motoring, succumbed to his injuries while being treated at the Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital (HUSM) in Kubang Kerian. His father, Ahmad Jhosman Ab Rahman, shared that his son had left their home in Kampung Teluk Kandis in Salor to meet up with friends at an eatery in Ketereh.
Reflecting on the events leading up to the tragedy, Ahmad Jhosman revealed that Ahmad Izuddin had been eager to join his friends, despite his mother’s request for him to stay home for dinner. The grieving father also mentioned a dream he had about a broken tooth during Ramadan, which he now sees as a premonition of his son’s untimely passing.
A Promising Future Cut Short
Ahmad Izuddin, a security guard by profession, had a keen interest in automotive skills, holding a certificate from a technical college. He was pursuing his TVET diploma studies at Giatmara Rantau Panjang, showing dedication to his passion for motor vehicles.
His younger sister, Siti Maisarah, described Ahmad Izuddin as a quiet individual who cared for his siblings. Their last interaction took place on the second day of Syawal, where they shared a close bond.
Tragic Accident Claims Three Lives
In addition to Ahmad Izuddin, two of his friends, Azman Uji, 21, and Muhammad Faiz Mohd Nasarudin, 19, also lost their lives in the fatal collision. The accident involved six motorcycles and a car, resulting in three other bikers sustaining critical injuries and being hospitalized at Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital.
The community in Kampung Teluk Kandis in Salor is mourning the loss of these young individuals, with Ahmad Izuddin set to be laid to rest at the Islamic cemetery in the village. The tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers faced on the roads, especially during late-night rides.
