A tragic incident occurred on Saturday night in Hartford, CT, resulting in the death of a 32-year-old man from Torrington. The victim, identified as Raphael E. Rodriguez, was fatally struck by a vehicle on Interstate 84 westbound at 8:14 p.m. on April 13.
Connecticut State Police are currently conducting an investigation into the vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision that claimed Rodriguez’s life. The incident took place past the entrance ramp to Interstate 91, with a 2012 Honda Pilot driven by a 33-year-old woman from Vernon colliding with Rodriguez in the left lane of the highway.
Following the impact, the Honda Pilot came to a controlled stop in the left lane, while Rodriguez sustained severe, life-threatening injuries. He was quickly transported to Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The driver of the vehicle, the 33-year-old Vernon woman, was also taken to Hartford Hospital for treatment of suspected minor injuries. Authorities are urging any witnesses to the collision or individuals with potential dashcam footage of the incident to come forward and provide information to Trooper Michael Dean at Troop H in Hartford.
