A dramatic vehicle pursuit, sparked by a white pickup truck parked incorrectly on a one-way street, culminated in a tragic outcome as officers fatally shot the suspect in the rear yard of a Pasadena residence. The tense situation unfolded at around 8:40 p.m. on Saturday on Hudson Avenue near Del Mar Boulevard, catching the attention of Pasadena Police Department officials, including Lt. Keith Gomez.
Initial reports indicate that officers approached the parked pickup truck to investigate the violation, engaging in conversation with the driver. However, the situation took a dangerous turn when the driver suddenly accelerated, narrowly avoiding hitting an officer in the process. A brief chase ensued, ultimately concluding with the pickup truck crashing into the front yard of a home in the 800 block of Arden Road. The suspect promptly fled the scene, seeking refuge in a nearby residential area.
In response, law enforcement officers swiftly implemented a containment strategy, mobilizing a search team to comb through the neighbourhood in pursuit of the suspect. Despite the assistance of a police helicopter, the fugitive managed to evade capture temporarily, even resorting to forcibly entering two occupied residences in a bid to evade authorities.
Eventually, the suspect was pinpointed in the rear yard of a residence on Oak Knoll Circle, thanks in part to the diligent efforts of the search team. As officers closed in, a police canine was deployed to apprehend the suspect, who obstinately refused to surrender. The tense standoff escalated when the suspect brandished a handgun, defying orders to drop the weapon and triggering a fatal officer-involved shooting.
Medical professionals rushed the suspect, later identified as Ricardo Guade Andrade, 36, of San Fernando, to a nearby hospital, where he was tragically pronounced dead. A handgun was recovered at the scene, corroborating initial reports of the suspect’s armed confrontation with authorities. Fortunately, no officers sustained injuries during the incident.
