State Police Cruiser Involved in Three-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 84 in Waterbury
On a fateful Saturday evening, a state police cruiser became entangled in a harrowing three-vehicle crash on Interstate 84 in Waterbury, Connecticut. The incident occurred around 5:45 p.m. as the evening settled in, leaving a trail of chaos and concern in its wake.
The Moment of Impact
According to reports from the Connecticut State Police, the scene was set as a state police cruiser was stationed on the right shoulder of Interstate 84 East, diligently conducting a routine traffic stop just ahead of Exit 25A. It was within this backdrop that a woman from Windsor found herself behind the wheel of a Toyota Corolla, innocently traversing the right lane towards the parked cruiser.
However, the tranquility of the moment was shattered when the driver of a Dodge Stratus lost control of their vehicle, careening from the center lane and colliding with the Toyota Corolla. In a devastating turn of events, the Dodge then careened into the back of the police cruiser, leaving a path of destruction in its wake.
The Fallout
The driver of the Dodge, identified as a 21-year-old woman from Oakville, found herself at the epicenter of the chaos. She was promptly held accountable for the crash and was subsequently issued a misdemeanor summons for a slew of offences including driving without a license, driving without insurance, failure to maintain proper lane discipline, and exceeding the speed limit.
Despite the gravity of the situation, both the driver of the Dodge and the trooper manning the cruiser miraculously emerged with only minor injuries. They were swiftly transported to St. Mary’s Hospital to receive the necessary medical attention, as per the directives of the state police.
