In a tragic turn of events, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has recently shed light on the harrowing circumstances leading to the discovery of a woman brutally stabbed to death inside a home in the southwest valley area. The victim, identified as 33-year-old Breyanna Sotomayor, was found with fatal stab wounds at a residence situated on the 8700 block of Tom Noon Avenue on a fateful Thursday, January 25.
Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement officials pronounced Sotomayor deceased, prompting the intervention of homicide detectives to launch a thorough investigation into the heart-wrenching incident. What unfolded next was a chilling revelation that shook the community to its core.
According to police reports, it was revealed that one of the victim’s three young children had made a distress call using an iPad to their grandmother residing in California. During the distressing call, the child recounted a harrowing scene where their mother lay unresponsive on the floor, drenched in blood, unable to be roused from her slumber. The grandmother, quick to react, swiftly dialed emergency services in Las Vegas while also alerting her son to rush to the scene.
The warrant further disclosed that the children, aged 5 and two 6-year-olds, were the unfortunate witnesses to the tragic events that unfolded that dreadful night. In a chilling account provided by a family member, it was uncovered that Sotomayor had recently parted ways with her boyfriend, identified as 34-year-old David Perry. Following an eviction from her previous abode near Blue Diamond and Ft. Apache, Sotomayor sought refuge in an Airbnb rental on Tom Noon Ave for a brief period while she sought alternative accommodation. Perry, the estranged boyfriend, was reportedly enlisted to assist with the move.
Disturbingly, previous legal records indicated a history of violence between Perry and Sotomayor, with Perry’s arrest in September 2023 for a violent altercation resulting in Sotomayor’s strangulation. However, due to a lack of cooperation from the victim, the case was dismissed, leading to Perry’s release from custody. Tragically, security footage from the Airbnb residence captured Perry’s attempt to flee the scene hours before law enforcement arrived, painting a grim picture of the events that transpired.
Fast forward to present day, Perry has been tracked down and apprehended in Kentucky on Wednesday, January 31, before being extradited to Las Vegas to face charges. Currently, he is being held without bail at the Clark County Detention Center, awaiting trial for the heinous crime that has left a community reeling in shock and disbelief. The eerie silence that now permeates the once vibrant neighbourhood stands as a stark reminder of the darkness that lurks beneath the surface of seemingly ordinary lives..
