In the early hours of Saturday, April 13, a routine traffic stop in McCracken County, Kentucky led to the arrest of two individuals by the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office. The incident occurred on Clarks River Road, where a deputy was conducting a highway safety detail.
The driver, identified as 34-year-old Anthony Riley, was accompanied by passengers 31-year-old Melissa Sims and 27-year-old Zachary Brierly, all hailing from Cynthiana, Kentucky. The situation escalated when McCracken County Sheriff’s K9 Vegas was brought in and alerted authorities to the presence of illegal narcotics in the vehicle. Subsequent searches uncovered marijuana and suspected methamphetamine.
Further investigation revealed that Brierly had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. As a result, all three individuals were charged with various offenses. Riley faced charges of speeding 17 mph over the limit, operating with a suspended or revoked license, and possession of marijuana. Sims was charged with first-degree possession of methamphetamine, possession of a prescription substance without proper container, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Brierly, on the other hand, was charged with a probation violation.
Following their arrests, Brierly and Sims were taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail to await further legal proceedings.
