In a shocking turn of events, a Tunica man, 20-year-old Anthony “A.J.” Carter Jr., has been charged with four counts of capital murder following a harrowing discovery in Robinsonville, Mississippi. The Tunica County Sheriff’s Office made the announcement on Friday, revealing a string of charges against Carter, including four counts of conspiracy to commit a crime, one count of drive-by shooting, and one count of shooting into a motor vehicle.
Details of the Incident
The incident unfolded on November 10 when a shooting incident led to a tragic crash on Casino Center Drive in Robinsonville. The aftermath of the incident left two men and a pregnant woman dead in a car riddled with bullet holes. The victims have been identified as 24-year-old Deshun Montarrio Isabell, 23-year-old Steven Dewayne Burts, 25-year-old Tednequa Tenice Moore, and Moore’s unborn child.
Suspect in Custody
Carter has been in custody since early April on unrelated charges, including possession of a controlled substance, possession of firearms, contributing to the delinquency of a minor(s), and two counts of attempted murder. Additionally, Carter is facing two more counts of attempted murder in connection with separate drive-by shootings that occurred in the White Oak community in October and November.
Legal Ramifications
The severity of the charges against Carter and another suspect, 18-year-old Deonte Taylor, could lead to life imprisonment or the death penalty. The Tunica County Sheriff’s Office has indicated that more charges are forthcoming, suggesting additional arrests in connection with the case.
