In a recent crackdown on illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, law enforcement authorities in Kashmir have taken decisive action in the districts of Kulgam and Baramulla. This proactive measure aims to curb the unauthorized exploitation of natural resources, which poses environmental risks and violates government regulations.
## Kulgam Operation:
In Kulgam, a vigilant police team, led by the Station House Officer (SHO) of DH Pora Police Station, conducted a thorough inspection at DH Pora Chowk. During the operation, they intercepted a vehicle, specifically a tractor, that was involved in the illicit extraction and transportation of minerals from Nallah Vaishow. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Fayaz Ahmad Rather from Yarikha, was promptly apprehended by the authorities. He is currently in police custody at DH Pora Police Station awaiting further legal proceedings.
## Baramulla Bust:
Meanwhile, in Baramulla, multiple police teams, under the supervision of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Kreeri, along with officers from Pattan and Tangmarg, collaborated in a coordinated effort. With the support of the Station House Officers (SHOs) of PS Kreeri and PS Kunzer, as well as the Incharge of PP Wussan, four tractors were intercepted. The drivers of these vehicles, namely Tariq Ahmad Ganie, Ab Rashid Karnie, Younis Ahmad Bhat, and Mohd Imran Khan, all residents of various localities in Baramulla, were found to be engaged in illegal mineral extraction and transportation activities in Kreeri, Wussan, and Kunzer areas.
## Legal Action and Message to the Public:
Following these operations, cases have been registered against the offenders under the relevant provisions of the law at the respective police stations. Further investigations are underway to ensure accountability and deter future violations. Law enforcement authorities have issued a stern warning to the public, urging them to refrain from engaging in any form of illegal mining activities in rivers and streams, as such actions are in clear violation of government regulations. Perpetrators caught participating in illegal mining will face legal consequences in accordance with the law.
This latest crackdown underscores the commitment of the authorities to uphold environmental laws and safeguard natural resources from exploitation for the greater good of the community and the environment..
