The tragic details surrounding the discovery of a deceased woman alongside two individuals linked to a violent robbery in Eastleigh have come to light. The woman in question has been identified as Esther Wanjiku Karuri, also known as Bobo Shanty. She was in the company of the two suspects, Fredrick Kopo Obote (aka Frik) and Jaylan Kibe, in Mombasa when they were reportedly picked up from a car dealership by unidentified individuals. This marked the last sighting of the trio before their untimely demise.
Their lifeless bodies were found at separate locations in Nairobi and Kiambu counties, sparking a wave of shock and disbelief in the community. An officer with knowledge of the ongoing investigation revealed to the Nation that during the violent robbery incident in Eastleigh, captured on CCTV, Kopo was identified as the individual who pulled the trigger, while Kibe was the rider involved in the crime.
The victim of the robbery, Adan Ali Mohamed, reportedly suffered a loss of Sh3.9 million during the harrowing ordeal and is currently battling for his life in a hospital within the city. Esther’s remains were discovered in Ruiri and subsequently transferred to the city mortuary before being moved to Chiromo by her grieving family.
Describing Esther, her friends and neighbours painted a picture of a vivacious individual who embraced life with gusto, often seen living in the fast lane. However, some members of the community hinted at her alleged involvement in criminal activities, with warnings issued to her on social media platforms by local community groups.
Raised in Kiamaiko alongside Kopo and Kibe, Esther was known to have a close bond with her childhood friends, with whom she shared numerous memories. According to a confidante of Esther’s, the trio frequented clubs together and enjoyed each other’s company.
Esther’s social media presence showcased her love for the finer things in life, highlighting her fashion sense and active participation on TikTok, where she shared engaging videos. Additionally, her passion for football, particularly as a devoted Manchester United fan, was evident in her online interactions.
However, Esther’s past actions came under scrutiny in December 2023 when she was accused of theft on social media platforms after allegedly pilfering money and a phone from an individual she met at a club. The fallout from this incident further clouded her reputation within certain circles.
In the wake of the tragic deaths, the Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC) condemned the loss of the three individuals, emphasizing the importance of due process in handling such cases. Martin Mavenjina from the KHRC stressed that if the police had suspicions regarding their involvement in criminal activities, they should have been apprehended and subjected to legal proceedings without resorting to extrajudicial measures..
