The Kano State Police Command has launched a thorough investigation into the tragic incident that occurred in Kanwa village, Madobi Local Government Area, where a 6-year-old boy named Mohammed Saidu was allegedly beheaded by a 16-year-old Almajiri known as Abdullahi, hailing from Zamfara.
State Police Commissioner Usaini Gumel addressed the media in Kano, shedding light on the harrowing details of the case. It was reported that Abdullahi was discovered in Kanwa village by a concerned citizen, holding a knife stained with what appeared to be human blood. Subsequently, the decapitated body of young Saidu was found in a nearby primary school.
In a bid to prevent vigilante justice, Abdullahi was swiftly taken to the residence of the village head. However, an enraged mob overpowered the village head, leading to a brutal attack on the suspect, resulting in severe injuries.
When law enforcement officials arrived at the scene, Abdullahi admitted to the crime, disclosing that he had disposed of the victim’s head in a pit toilet adjacent to the school. Despite efforts to save his life, Abdullahi succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at Kwankwaso Cottage Hospital.
The State Police Commissioner confirmed that the remains of the young victim were recovered and transferred to the hospital for further examination. Following the necessary procedures, the body was later released to the family for burial rites.
