A tragic incident unfolded in Caledonia, Wis., as a 36-year-old man hailing from West Allis lost his life in a fatal car crash at the intersection of Highway 38 and Emmertsen Road on Tuesday morning. The collision, which took place around 8:45 a.m., resulted in the closure of traffic at the roundabout for several hours, causing disruptions in the area.
According to a statement released by the Caledonia Police Department, the deceased man was travelling east on Highway 38 when another vehicle made a left turn in front of him. The impact of the collision caused his car to strike the other vehicle, overturn, and eventually hit a light pole before coming to a halt in an upright position. Tragically, the man succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The driver of the other vehicle, an 18-year-old woman from Racine, sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the crash. She was promptly treated at the scene and later transported to Ascension for further medical attention.
As the investigation into the incident unfolds, the Caledonia Police Department has refrained from disclosing the victim’s identity until family members have been duly informed. The circumstances leading up to the collision are currently under scrutiny, with Lieutenant Laehr spearheading the inquiry. Authorities have urged any witnesses to the crash to step forward and assist in the ongoing investigation by contacting Lt. Laehr at ELAEHR@caledonia-wi.gov.
