CASPER, Wyo. – The tragic stabbing death of 14-year-old Robert “Bobby” Maher Jr. has shocked the community of Casper, Wyoming. The two juvenile suspects involved in this heinous crime have been identified as 15-year-old Evansville resident Jarreth JoseFlee Plunkett and 15-year-old Casper resident Dominique Antonio Richard Harris.
Plunkett faces charges of First Degree Homicide, Conspiracy to Commit First Degree Homicide, Aggravated Assault, and Theft, while Harris is charged with Conspiracy to Commit First Degree Murder and Theft. Both suspects have been remanded in custody, with Plunkett held on a $500,000 cash-only bond and Harris on a $450,000 cash-only bond.
The incident took place on April 7th at around 1:40 pm near the Hibachi grill on the west side of Eastridge Mall in Casper. Maher Jr. was found unconscious with two stab wounds, and despite efforts to revive him, he tragically succumbed to his injuries.
During the investigation, it was revealed that an altercation occurred between Maher Jr. and the two suspects, Plunkett and Harris. Witnesses on the scene provided crucial information, and Detective M. Dovala reviewed video footage that captured the events leading up to the fatal stabbing.
The footage showed Plunkett aggressively approaching Maher Jr. with a knife, while Harris positioned himself behind Maher Jr. before violently attacking him. Maher Jr. made no attempt to retaliate and was seen moving away from the assailants in a defensive manner.
It was also discovered that prior to the altercation, Plunkett and Harris had shoplifted items from a local store, including the knife used in the attack. The suspects admitted to their involvement in the crime during police interviews, corroborating the evidence gathered from the scene.
The community of Casper has been left reeling from this senseless act of violence, and the upcoming Preliminary Hearing for Plunkett and Harris on April 18th will provide further insight into the case.
