A tragic double homicide in Mauldin, South Carolina, has left the community in shock. The suspect, Christopher Minor, aged 50, was found dead in McCormick, South Carolina, on Sunday, March 24, 2024, after allegedly committing the heinous crime.
The incident unfolded when Mauldin Police responded to a shots fired call at the Arbors at Brookfield apartment complex on Butler Road. Upon arrival on Saturday, March 23, 2024, around 6 pm, authorities discovered two women, identified as Mariellen Bessent Minor, aged 41, and Kim Melissa Thrift, aged 52, deceased at the scene. Mariellen Bessent Minor, a resident of Greenville, had suffered at least one gunshot wound, according to the Coroner.
Following an intensive investigation, authorities were able to obtain an arrest warrant for Christopher Minor for two counts of murder and two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm in the commission of a violent act. However, Minor was not found at the scene, prompting a search operation. Officials believed that he had fled in a white Cadillac with South Carolina license plate 297-AFW.
On Sunday, the City of Mauldin confirmed the news that Christopher Minor had been found dead in McCormick, South Carolina, approximately an hour and a half south of Mauldin. The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear at this time.
The Mauldin Police Department is treating the incident as a case of domestic violence, with further details expected to be released in due course. An autopsy for Mariellen Bessent Minor is scheduled for Monday, March 25, 2024, to determine the exact cause of her tragic demise.
