Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Suspended Police Constable Arrested for Shooting Wife’s Paramour
The crime branch of the city police, assisted by the cybercrime branch and the MIDC Waluj police, recently made a breakthrough in a shocking case involving the shooting of Sachin Narode, the paramour of a suspended police constable’s wife. The arrested accused has been identified as 35-year-old suspended constable Rameshwar Kale. Additionally, 24-year-old Laxman Jagtap was also apprehended for his involvement in the crime.
Narode was tragically shot dead in an open space in Balajinagar in Shahjapur on Sunday. The two accused were presented before the court and subsequently remanded to police custody. Deputy commissioner of police (zone-I) Nitin Bagate confirmed that the accused constable has confessed to his crime.
According to crime branch inspector Sandeep Gurme, it took considerable effort to get Kale to confess. “Kale, being a policeman, was a hard nut to crack, and he remained in denial for four days. He only confessed after we brought Jagtap to him,” Gurme stated.
Investigations revealed that Kale was upset that his wife, who is also a constable, had left him for Narode. This betrayal reportedly fueled Kale’s anger, leading him to take drastic measures. Given the ongoing friction between Narode and Kale, the latter quickly became a key suspect in the case.
Kale was apprehended while heading to the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar rural superintendent of police’s office to resume duty after being suspended for over a year. An officer revealed that Kale had previously been arrested by the anti-corruption bureau for accepting bribes from sand traders, resulting in his suspension.
MIDC Waluj inspector Krishna Shinde emphasized the importance of recovering the firearm used in the crime for forensic analysis. Shinde stated, “The manner in which Narode was killed suggests experience in handling firearms, further solidifying our suspicions of Kale.”
