A Miami woman is facing serious charges after an altercation over a tax return turned violent last month. The incident took place on Feb. 29th at a home in the 500 block of Northwest 33rd Street, near the city’s Design District. Police responded to a call about an aggravated assault and found a disturbing scene.
According to authorities, the victim, who has been in a relationship with a man for the past two years, was confronted by 35-year-old Roseshawn Michelle Williams, with whom the man shares a child. The altercation began when Williams arrived at the victim’s home and started demanding tax refund money. The victim tried to explain that the issue was between Williams and the man, but Williams became increasingly aggressive.
Witnesses reported that Williams began hurling insults and then pulled out a black semi-automatic handgun from her bag, pointing it at the victim and threatening her. The victim’s boyfriend intervened and threatened to call the authorities, prompting Williams to flee the scene.
The victim later provided a detailed statement to the Miami Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit, highlighting Williams’ aggressive behavior during the incident. Detectives conducted a lineup, and the victim positively identified Williams as the person who had threatened her with the gun.
Williams was apprehended by the City of Miami Felony Apprehension Team and taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. She is now facing a charge of aggravated assault with a firearm. As of Friday morning, Williams did not appear in the Miami-Dade Corrections’ inmate search.
This incident serves as a reminder of the potential dangers that can arise from disputes, no matter how trivial they may seem. The use of a firearm in a conflict can escalate the situation quickly and put lives at risk. It is important for individuals to resolve conflicts peacefully and seek help from authorities if needed..
