In a recent development that has sent shockwaves through the Hudson Valley, the New York State Police made a significant bust on I-87, a hotspot for police activity in the region. The incident occurred on March 17, 2024, when members of the State Police Troop F (Middletown) Community Stabilization Unit (CSU) pulled over a 2024 Kia traveling along the interstate.
Upon stopping the vehicle in the Village of Suffern, Troopers discovered violations of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law. The occupants of the vehicle were identified as 19-year-old Tocloveson Pierre from Norwalk, Connecticut, and 18-year-old Alijah Matias Williams from Stamford, Connecticut.
A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a cache of weapons, including two P-80 Ghost AR Kits, two AR Pistol Grips, six High-Capacity AR Magazines, two P-80 Jigs, four boxes of .223 ammunitions (80 rounds in total), and one Gravity Knife. The discovery led to the immediate arrest of Pierre and Williams, who were charged with Transportation of Weapons (a felony), Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree (a felony), and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th degree (a misdemeanor).
The suspects were arraigned in Suffern Village Court and released on their own recognizance. However, the serious nature of the charges means that potential jail time is a real possibility. In New York, Violent Felonies such as the ones the suspects are charged with carry mandatory jail sentences, with the felony weapons charge in the 3rd degree potentially resulting in up to seven years behind bars.
As the case unfolds, it remains to be seen what the future holds for Pierre and Williams. The lack of information about a future court date in the press release leaves much to speculation. Hudson Valley residents will be eagerly awaiting updates on this case as more information becomes available.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers that lurk on our highways and the vital role that law enforcement plays in keeping our communities safe. The swift actions of the New York State Police in apprehending the suspects and confiscating the weapons undoubtedly prevented a potential tragedy on the roads of the Hudson Valley..
