Tragic Death of Andhra Pradesh Student in the US
In a heartbreaking incident, a 20-year-old student from Andhra Pradesh, Abhijeeth Paruchuru, was found dead under suspicious circumstances in the United States. Abhijeeth, a bright engineering student at Boston University, hailed from Burripalem in Guntur district. His tragic demise has left his family devastated, with his parents, Paruchuri Chakradhar and Srilakshmi Boruna, based in Connecticut.
Family Allegations and Investigation
Abhijeeth’s family firmly believes that he was a victim of foul play and was murdered. They describe him as a dedicated and talented student who had a promising future ahead of him. Initially, his mother was hesitant about his decision to pursue higher studies abroad, but eventually supported his aspirations.
On the day of his disappearance, Abhijeeth failed to return home after his classes, prompting his friends to report him missing. Subsequently, his body was discovered in his car in a forest on March 11, identified through his cell phone signals. The Consulate General of India in New York has been involved in the case, stating that the initial investigation has not found any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
Recent Deaths of Indian Students in the US
Unfortunately, Abhijeeth’s tragic death is not an isolated incident, as there have been a series of deaths involving Indian and Indian-origin students in the US since the beginning of 2024. Venkataramana Pittala, a 27-year-old student from Telangana, lost his life in a jet ski accident in Florida while pursuing a master’s degree in health informatics at IUPUI.
In a separate incident, Amarnath Ghosh, a talented dancer from West Bengal, succumbed to gunshot wounds in the US after being attacked while walking on the street. These incidents have raised concerns about the safety and well-being of Indian students studying abroad.
Final Rites in Andhra Pradesh
Abhijeeth Paruchuru’s final rites were performed in his hometown in Andhra Pradesh, where friends, family, and well-wishers gathered to mourn his untimely demise. The tragic loss of such a promising young talent has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the need for greater support and protection for students studying overseas.
