The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has made significant progress in the Sandeshkhali ED assault case by arresting three more individuals in connection with the incident. The latest arrests include Mafujar Molla, Sirajul Molla, and Sheikh Alomgir, bringing the total number of arrests in the case to six. The investigation is currently ongoing, shedding light on the complex circumstances surrounding the attack on Enforcement Directorate (ED) officers in Sandeshkhali, West Bengal.
The CBI had previously arrested Didar Baksh Molla, Faruk Akunji, and Jiaudddin Molla, including the Panchayat Pradhan of Sarberia Panchayat, in relation to the same case. These arrests have been crucial in unravelling the intricate web of connections and motives behind the assault on the ED officials.
The arrested individuals are believed to have ties to expelled TMC leader Shahajahan Sheikh, who was apprehended earlier in connection with the Sandeshkhali ED assault case. The Supreme Court had also declined to interfere with the Calcutta High Court’s decision to order a CBI probe into the matter, highlighting the seriousness of the incident.
The CBI has stated that all the accused will be presented before the magistrate for further legal proceedings, emphasizing the agency’s commitment to swift and decisive action against those involved in criminal activities, particularly those targeting law enforcement officers. The agency continues to work closely with relevant authorities to ensure that justice is served and the rule of law upheld.
In addition to the arrests made so far, the CBI has summoned nine individuals, including a close aide of the main accused Shahjahan Sheikh, for questioning in connection with the ED assault case. Shahjahan is facing allegations of land grab, extortion, and committing atrocities against women, along with his accomplices.
The women of Sandeshkhali in North 24 Parganas district have voiced their outrage over the alleged excesses and atrocities committed by Shahjahan and his associates. Multiple women have come forward, accusing Shahjahan and his aides of land grab and sexual assault under duress.
As the investigation progresses and more information comes to light, the CBI remains steadfast in its pursuit of justice and accountability. The agency’s efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice demonstrate its unwavering commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring the safety of law enforcement officials..
