According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP), the fatal crash occurred just before 10 a.m. on Highway 30 in Lafayette County. The MHP responded swiftly to the scene of the accident, where they found a 2002 Cadillac Escalade, driven by Holmes, had veered off the road and collided with a tree.
