Bhubaneswar Man Allegedly Murders Wife, Police Launch Investigation
Authorities in Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha, were shocked by a gruesome incident where a man reportedly beat his wife to death with a wooden plank and then resided with her corpse for two days. The tragic event unfolded in the Tarini Nagar area of Salia Sahi under the jurisdiction of the Maitri Vihar Police Station. The victim was identified as Reena Jena.
According to police sources, the disturbing discovery was made when neighbours noticed a putrid odour emanating from the couple’s residence on Thursday, March 14. Golakh Jena, the accused, and his late wife, Reena, were living as tenants in Tarini Nagar. The couple, who have three children, worked as daily wage labourers and were known to consume alcohol.
On the fatal day of Tuesday, March 12, a heated argument ensued between Golakh and Reena, with the latter reportedly inebriated. The altercation took a tragic turn when Golakh allegedly resorted to violence, resulting in the death of his wife. Subsequently, he concealed the body within their home. The authorities were alerted by concerned neighbours after Golakh confessed to the crime.
Upon receiving the distress call, a team of law enforcement officers, accompanied by forensic experts, promptly arrived at the scene to commence an investigation. During interrogation, Golakh Jena purportedly admitted to the heinous act, shedding light on the grisly events that transpired.
Police Foil Dacoity Plot in Bhubaneswar
In a separate incident within the confines of Bhubaneswar, the Infocity Police Station successfully thwarted the nefarious intentions of a five-member gang of dacoits who were allegedly planning a heist in the city. Authorities revealed that one of the apprehended suspects had an extensive criminal record, with involvement in 48 cases, while the others were implicated in 17 additional incidents across various police jurisdictions.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Bhubaneswar, in a statement, disclosed that sharp weapons and incriminating evidence were seized from the possession of the apprehended individuals. The proactive intervention by law enforcement prevented a potential criminal act from occurring within the city.
