In the early hours of February 28, 2024, Roseburg Police were involved in the arrest of a Glide man following an alleged eluding incident that took place on Monday night. The incident unfolded shortly after 10:00 p.m. when officers received a report of a suspicious sedan parked in the lot of a business located in the 2100 block of Northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard.
As officers approached the vehicle and parked behind it, the driver of the sedan made a sudden and reckless decision to evade the police. Ignoring the orders to stop, the driver accelerated away, disregarding a stop sign and speeding eastbound on Diamond Lake at a dangerously high rate.
A pursuit ensued as officers trailed the vehicle, which eventually came to a halt in the truck yard situated in the 3900 block of the road. The driver, later identified as 44-year-old Jason Spradley from Glide, attempted to flee on foot. However, his escape was short-lived as officers, with the assistance of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit and their trusty K9 Ozzy, managed to apprehend him after a brief chase.
Following his arrest, Spradley faced a slew of charges, including attempting to evade police both in a vehicle and on foot. Additionally, he was found to have several outstanding warrants against him and was discovered to be driving with a suspended license.
In light of the seriousness of the charges brought against him, Spradley was placed in custody with bail set at $25,000. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the consequences that can arise from attempting to evade law enforcement and the potential risks involved in such reckless actions.
The location where the incident transpired, Northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard in Roseburg, is a bustling area known for its commercial establishments and vibrant community. Such incidents are rare in this peaceful neighbourhood, making this particular event all the more noteworthy for residents and law enforcement alike..
