An Oakland resident has been apprehended by the Colma Police Department after allegedly trespassing and threatening a business owner with a weapon. The incident took place in the vicinity of Clark Avenue and D Street in Oakland.
The ordeal began when a vigilant homeowner noticed an individual unlawfully entering the backyard of a residence. Acting swiftly, the homeowner escorted the trespasser off the premises and promptly notified the authorities. Responding to the distress call, law enforcement officers arrived at the scene at approximately 8:14 p.m. on Friday evening.
It was reported that the description of the suspect matched that of a prowler involved in a previous incident reported by a neighbouring agency. This suspicion was further corroborated by a separate report of a man wielding a knife at a business owner in the 7600 block of El Camino Real before making a hasty retreat.
Efforts to apprehend the suspect intensified as the South San Francisco Police Department’s K-9 unit and the San Bruno Police Department’s drone unit were deployed to establish a perimeter in the surrounding area. Despite these rigorous search measures, the fugitive managed to evade capture.
However, the tide turned in favour of law enforcement when, at 10:37 p.m., Colma police officers were summoned to a business establishment in the 600 block of Serramonte Boulevard following reports of a man trespassing on the premises. The suspect’s description matched that of the individual involved in the earlier incidents.
Subsequently, officers successfully located and detained the 29-year-old Oakland resident in a portable toilet on the property. The homeowner of the trespass site positively identified the apprehended suspect, linking him to the earlier transgressions.
As the suspect was being transported from the Colma Police Station to the San Mateo County Jail, he began exhibiting physical resistance. Officers were compelled to restrain the individual due to his unruly behaviour, which included kicking and flailing when being placed in the police vehicle en route to the detention facility..
