ST. CHARLES, IL — The St. Charles City Council voted to approve the appointment of William Hannah as the new director of finance at a city council meeting earlier this month. Hannah’s appointment is effective starting on Jan. 31, 2022.

Hannah comes to the city of St. Charles from the village of North Aurora, where he served as finance director/treasurer for more than 15 years, according to a news release from the city of St. Charles.

There he was responsible for the planning, directing, and execution of all financial operations including budget development and long-term financial planning, auditing and financial reporting, debt evaluation and issuance, and cash management and investing. He also served as village treasurer and liaison to the North Aurora Police Pension Fund.

“Bill brings solid experience leading a municipal finance department,” said city administrator Heather McGuire. “He has a proven track record of successful financial management and is the perfect candidate to continue the City’s longstanding tradition of fiscal responsibility. And the fact that he is a 14-year resident of St. Charles assures a smooth transition.”

Hannah holds a Master of Public Administration from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois, and a Bachelor of Arts, from Illinois Benedictine College in Lisle. He is the past president and executive board member of the Illinois Government Finance Association.
